The picnic begins at 6:30pm on Monday, July 28th at the Edgewood Senior Center off Thomas More Parkway.

Please join us on Monday, June 23rd at the Oriental Wok for our 2014 Honoree luncheon to congratulate & celebrate with Anita Carmack!
We will also hear from Brian Linder. Brian served 6 years on the Grant County Fiscal Court from 2006-2012 and was elected to the state House of Representatives in 2012. He is the first Republican ever to represent Grant County as a State Representative. While elected in 2012 from Grant, Gallatin, and Owen Counties; redistricting has changed the 61st District to Grant, Southern Kenton and Boone Counties, and northern Scott County. His district runs from the southern edge of Independence to downtown Georgetown. He is unopposed in the 2014 election. In Frankfort, he serves on the Education and Local Government Committees and serves as vice-chair of the Energy Committee. Brian graduated from Grant County High School in 1990 and the University of Kentucky in 1996 with a degree in History and Political Science secondary education. He also has a Master in Business Administration from Thomas More College. He worked in the utility industry for 16 years at Owen Electric Cooperative as a Key Account Manager, and currently works as the energy manager for 5 school districts; Grant County, Owen County, Gallatin County, Carroll County, and Williamstown Independent. Brian also works as a real estate agent for Sibcy Cline in northern Kentucky. He is married to Sonya Linder and they have three children; Alec, Tanner, and Chloe Regan.

Katie has been a State Senator from the 24th District since 1999 and recently announced her plans to retire at the end of this session. She served two terms in the House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. In 2005, Katie was elected by the State Senate Republican Caucus to be the President Pro Tempore . She is the first woman to serve in that role. She graduated from UC with a degree in Biology and from NKU’s Salmon Chase College of Law. Katie has served on many committees and has won many awards, including: A.D. Albright Outstanding Educational Governance Individual Award, Taxpayer’s Friend Award by Taxpayers United, Concerned Women for America Families First Award, Northern Kentucky Right To Life John Bauer Award, & Kentucky Right To Life 25th Anniversary Celebration of Life Award. She is married to Fred Stine and has 2 children – Caroline and Fritz.

At this point the top 3-4 priorities are as follows: Coffee Creamer – Dry, Men’s White Socks- Basic Crew Mid-Calf Package, Men’s White T-Shirts – Large or X-Large Package, Gift Cards for Men’s Shoes – $25.00 Walmart or Target Gift Card will allow Executive Director to take client to select their own shoes or she will buy for them if they prefer. Guests are currently wearing shoes in horrible condition or shoes that do not fit. Please bring donations to our meeting on the 24th!

Graham, speaking on the history of Blue Star Mothers. From 1930-1933, the United States Government took more than 6,500 mothers of World War I soldiers to Europe to visit their graves. Hear local author and KCPL staff member John Graham pay tribute to these Gold Star Mothers and their sons who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Join us on Monday evening, November 25th at the Oriental Wok on Buttermilk Pike beginning with a cash bar at 6:30 P.M. and dinner following at 7:00 P.M. The cost for the holiday buffet is $26.00.
We will have a short business meeting and our election/swearing in of new officers will immediately follow the closing of nominations at the end of the business part of our meeting.

You may remember Terry from the KCRWC picnic at the Moser home in July … yes, he was the one doing the dishes!!! He is a nationally sought after speaker on nursing humor. A well known community volunteer, he regularly volunteers on multiple charitable boards and especially for fundraisers. In 2009, Terry was the recipient of the Judith Kelleher award, which is the highest award given by the national Emergency Nurses Association. In 2010, Terry played himself on a episode of “Untold Stories of the ER” on The Learning Channel. Terry was the first nurse to ever be featured on this physician based show. He was just in an episode again a few weeks ago! Since 1998, Terry has been the Critical-Care Clinical Nurse Specialist in the ER Department at St. Elizabeth-Edgewood, and has been continuously employed in this hospital system since 1975.
